10 January 2026 - Installation Meeting

To proclaim WBro Graham Denis Grishakow PProvSGD as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year.

 

The Lodge was opened in due form by the WM, WBro Graham D Grishakow. PProvSGD

Acting Officers: WBro A Shaw PProvSGD acted as JW and WBro R Godwin PProvDepGDC acted as Tyler.

The Lodge was opened in due form by the WM, WBro G Grishakow at 4:06pm.

WBro R Harwood PProvGSwdB, Sec confirmed that a dispensation had been received to hold the meeting on Saturday the 10th of January 2026. The Sec read the summons convening the meeting and the circulated minutes of our last regular meeting were approved by the Brethren and signed by the WM and Wardens.

On a report, WBro Andrew Procter PProvJGW, the Representative of the RW ProvGM was admitted, accompanied by Officers of United Grand Lodge. The WM welcomed WBro Procter, who responded saying that he was looking forward to an enjoyable afternoon and evening.

The Brethren then give EA honours three times to WBro Procter. WBro Procter thanked the Brethren for their salutations and in return greeted them well.

For the purpose of Installation the WM requested:

  • WBro K Lee remained as SW,
  • WBro A Shaw PProvSGD to remain as JW,
  • WBro G Casson PProvGSwdB to act as IG,
  • and WBro R Godwin PProvDepGDC to act as Tyler.

All Brethren below the rank of a FC were asked to retire for a short time, and the Lodge was opened in the Second Degree. Having been previously elected, the WM agreed to remain in the Chair of King Solomon for a further twelve months.

All Brethren below the rank of a MM were asked to retire for a short time, and the Lodge was opened in the Third Degree.

All Brethren below the rank of an Installed Master were asked to retire for a short time, and a Board of Installed Masters was opened. WBro G Grishakow was proclaimed as WM for the ensuing year.

The Lodge was called off for a short break of approximately 30 minutes. The Lodge was called on and the Board of Installed Masters closed. The WM was proclaimed in each Degree and the working tools were explained by Light-Blue Masons.

Reports were received from the Almoner, Charity Steward, and Area Rep.

At the First Rising: The Sec confirmed that all communications from United Grand Lodge had been circulated electronically. Greetings were given by WBro P Aspinall PAGDC, congratulated the WM and everyone who had taken part in such a splendid ceremony.

At the Second Rising: The Sec confirmed that all communications from Provincial Grand Lodge had been circulated electronically. Greetings were given by WBro Procter, who congratulated the WM on retaining the Chair, and all those who had accepted an office.

At the Third Rising: The Sec communicated the following: 1. All correspondence had been circulated electronically. 2. Several summonses from Northern Area Lodges had been received and all are available using the link in my email footer. 3. Apologies had been received as recorded in the Minutes.

AOB:

  • 1. WBro Harwood acknowledged the excellent take up of Royal Arch membership within the Lodge but added that as the new Royal Arch Rep he would always be available to discuss the advantages of becoming a Royal Arch mason with any of our newer members who have yet to make that final step in their Masonic journey.
  • 2. The WM read a thank you letter he had received from Bro Radu Andreescu on behalf of Smile Burundi UK.
  • 3. WBro Harwood asked the Brethren to remain in the Lodge for the usual photos. Greetings for the visitors were given by WBro A Taylor PProvSGW. He congratulated the WM on retaining the Chair, the officers remaining in post and those who had accepted a new post. He highlighted the junior or newer Brethren who had taken part, and also in some cases accepted an office. He made special mention of the Lodge Secretary and DC, both of whom have a tremendous amount of work for an installation, one for organising it all, and one for trying to control it.

There being no further business, the Lodge was closed and the Brethren retired to the Bar and Festive Board.

The Lodge was opened in due form by the WM, WBro G Grishakow PProvSGD.

WBro R Harwood PProvGSwdB, Sec read the summons convening the meeting and the circulated minutes of our last regular meeting were approved by the Brethren and signed by the WM and Wardens.

Having been unable to attend the Installation, WBro Rayton PProvJGW gave the address to the Wardens in an excellent manner.

Having appointed his officers at the Installation, the WM invested the following who had been unable to attend the Installation:

  • WBro D Heskett PProvGReg as Charity Steward
  • WBro S Rayton PProvJGW as Tyler.
  • Three stewards were again unable to attend.

The next business on the Summons was a presentation of the First-Degree Tracing Board. The WM requested that the Tyler be admitted.
WBro Rayton asked Bro's Smith and Waterhouse to join him on the pavement then gave the explanation of the First-Degree Tracing Board in his usual outstanding manner. The brethren showed their appreciation for a wonderful presentation with a warm round of applause.

The WM invited Bro K Rawcliffe, SD to give his presentation entitled "The Statue of Liberty and Freemasonry ". Bro Rawcliffe gave an excellent presentation and the Brethren found it most interesting. All present showed their appreciation with a spontaneous round of applause.

Greetings were given by WBro S Barton PAGDC, who congratulated WBro Rayton on his presentation of the First-Degree Tracing Board and Bro Rawcliffe on a fascinating lecture.

Second Rising:
The Sec confirmed that all communications from Provincial Grand Lodge had been circulated electronically.
Greetings were given by WBro Clive Hartley ProvAsstGSec who congratulated both who presented during the evening.

Third Rising:
The Sec communicated the following:

  • 1. All correspondence has been circulated electronically.
  • 2. Several summonses from Northern Area Lodges have been received and all are available using the link in my email footer, although I must bring your attention to the Initiation at Lime-Stone Rock Lodge on the 12th of Feb. We currently have 5 brethren visiting and would welcome others if available.
  • 3. Apologies have been received as recorded in the minute book.

All agreed that the evening had been extremely enjoyable with two great presentations and a further advancement in Masonic knowledge.

The Third-Degree Ceremony for Bro Scott Smith

The Lodge was opened in due form by the WM, WBro G Grishakow PProvSGD.

WBro R Harwood PProvGSwdB, Sec read the summons convening the meeting and the circulated minutes of our last regular meeting were approved by the Brethren and signed by the WM and Wardens.

The Worshipful Master requested all below the rank of a Fellow Craft to retire, Bro Mark Waterhouse (EA) retired accompanied by WBro Donald Bright PProv JGW Mentor before opening the Lodge in the 2nd Degree.

The Worshipful Master advised that the next business was to Raise Bro Scott Smith to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. He then requested all below the rank of a Master Mason with the exception of Bro Smith to retire from the Lodge for a short time. Bro Smith showed his proficiency in the former Degree in an excellent manner. The WM entrusted Bro Smith who then retired for preparation.

The Lodge was then opened in the 3rd Degree. The Deacons prepared the Lodge and Bro Smith was readmitted on an alarm. The WM conducted the ceremony of Raising to an excellent standard. Bro Casson, acting SD conducted Bro Smith in a reassuring manner. WBro K Lee, SW delivered the charge to his usual high standard and WBro Barton presented the working tools, again to a high standard. The WM congratulated Bro Smith on completing this part of his Raising, adding that the Traditional History and Tracing Board will be presented at our next meeting. The WM then invited Bro Smith to retire to restore himself to his former comforts.

Whilst the WM meant to ask the Deacons to 'RESTORE' the Lodge, but 'DESTROY' the Lodge came out, which he quickly corrected to the amusement of the Brethren.

The Lodge was closed to the 2nd and 1st Degrees by virtue, with fellow crafts and entered apprentices being duly readmitted.

Bro Smith was then readmitted and took his seat in the Lodge.

The Sec confirmed that all communications from United Grand Lodge had been circulated electronically. Greetings were given by WBro S Barton PAGDC, who congratulated the WM and Officers who had taken part in the ceremony, adding his personal congratulations to Bro Smith on being Raised.

Second Rising:

The Sec confirmed that all communications from Provincial Grand Lodge had been circulated electronically. Greetings were given by WBro D Bright PProvJGW who wasn't able to comment on the ceremony as he had accompanied Bro M Waterhouse when he retired, but he did believe from comments that he had overheard that the ceremony went well. He also congratulated Bro Smith.

Third Rising:

The Sec communicated the following:

  • Several summonses from Northern Area Lodges have been received and all are available using the link in my email footer.
  • Apologies have been received as recorded in the Minutes.

  • Greetings were received from WBro Scott Miller PProvGStwd of Bank Terrace with King Oswald Lodge, No.462 on behalf of all visiting Brethren. He congratulated Bro Smith on being Raised, the way in which he had conducted himself, and especially the way in which he answered the test questions. He also congratulated the WM and officers on the way in which the work of the evening had been undertaken.

There being no other business the Lodge and the Brethren retired to the Festive Board.

The Lodge was opened in due form by the WM, WBro G Grishakow PProvSGD.

WBro R Harwood PProvGSwdB, Sec read the summons convening the meeting and the circulated minutes of our last regular meeting were approved by the Brethren and signed by the WM and Wardens.

The Worshipful Master requested all below the rank of a Fellow Craft to retire, before opening the Lodge in the 2nd Degree. Brethren below the rank of a Master Mason were asked to retire for a short time and the Lodge was opened in the 3rd Degree.

The WM presented the Traditional History and Third-Degree Tracing Board to Bro S Smith, IG along with Bro Richard O'Doherty of Prosperity Lodge No.5206, in his usual excellent manner. The test questions and answers of a Master Mason were demonstrated by the WM and Wardens.

The WM then presented Bro Smith with a copy of the Lodge ritual book and a certificate commemorating his Raising to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. The WM also presented Bro O'Doherty with a certificate commemorating the completion of his Raising by having received the Traditional History and Tracing Board in the Lodge of Amity and Rossendale Forest.

The Lodge was closed to the 2nd and 1st Degrees by virtue, with fellow crafts and entered apprentices being duly readmitted.

The Lodge accounts for 2025 having been approved at the recent committee meeting were proposed by WBro S Barton PAGDC, Treasurer, seconded by WBro D Bright PProvJGW, and approved by the Brethren present.

The charity accounts for 2025 having been approved at the recent committee meeting were proposed by WBro D Heskett PProvGReg, Charity Steward, seconded by WBro A Fielder PProvJGD, IPM and approved by the Brethren present.

Reports were received from the Almoner, Charity Steward, and Area Rep.

First Rising:

The Sec confirmed that all communications from United Grand Lodge had been circulated electronically. Greetings were given by WBro S Barton PAGDC, who congratulated the WM on the ceremony of the evening adding that he would be delivering the same piece of work at Grants Lodge very soon and he hoped he would be able to match his performance.

Second Rising:

The Sec confirmed that all communications from Provincial Grand Lodge had been circulated electronically. Greetings were given by WBro Stephen Jackson PProvSGW who congratulated the WM on the "magnificent" way in which he had delivered the main business of the evening.

Third Rising:

The Sec communicated the following:

  • All correspondence has been circulated electronically but added that there will be an Area trip to Quarterly Communications of UGLE in June adding that this is always a great trip for Masters Masons and above.
  • Several summonses from Northern Area Lodges have been received and all are available using the link in my email footer.
  • Apologies have been received as recorded in the Minutes.

  • WBro Barton reminded the Brethren of the upcoming sponsored walk for the 2026 Festival adding that he would bring his sponsor form to the next meeting.

Both congratulated the WM on the work of the evening and WBro Jackson of Prosperity Lodge thanked the Brethren for the opportunity for Bro O'Doherty to receive the Traditional History alongside Bro Smith to complete his third-degree ceremony.
