October 2014:The Lodge was opened in due form. Pursuant to a notice of motion, W.Bro. Derek H Smith PProvSGD proposed Bro Peter Moore as a joining member of the Lodge, seconded by W.Bro.Stuart Rayton PProvGSuptWks; the proposition will be balloted for next month.
The main business of the evening was to receive the RWPGM Sir David Trippier, RD, JP, DL, accompanied by members of a Provincial Deputation, to hear the five newest initiates of the Lodge give their personal perspective on aspects of their own evening of initiation into Freemasonry. This was in the form of a very truncated First Degree Ceremony with each of the new initiates giving their thoughts and recollections at various intervals throughout the ceremony; a concept devised and superbly narrated by W.Bro.Dennis Heskett PProvSGD, Lodge Secretary, and skilfully assisted by the Deacons W.Bro.Stuart Rayton PProvGSuptWks and W.Bro.Derek H Smith PProvSGD.
The RWPGM thanked everyone taking part, especially the five 'Candidates' for sharing their personal thoughts and recollections of their own initiation, which he found most interesting and rewarding.
He also commented that the Lodge had demonstrated the importance of looking towards the future of Freemasonry, and indeed the Lodge by engaging its newer members at an early stage in Lodge workings, and he lead the assembly in showing their appreciation for the evenings work.
The Almoner, Charity Steward, 2015 Festival Rep. and the District Rep. reports were deferred until the November meeting.
The minutes recorded apologies from members, however, 27 members, 34 visitor and 12 members of the Provincial Deputation were present; making a total of 73 in the Lodge Room.
