January 2013: being the first meeting of the new Masonic Year, the Installation meeting. Bro Barry Thompson was installed as Worshipful Master of the Lodge in an exemplary manner by W.Bro Russell Harwood IPM, ably assisted by the Past Masters and Brethren of the Lodge. The Officers and Brethren Invested are recorded in the minutes.
The minutes recorded 12 apologies from members, however, 21 members and 12 visitors were present.

February 2013: The Secretary read the dispensation allowing the Lodge to meet at the Masonic Hall, Accrington, due to a clash of meetings at Mill House.
~ W.Bro McMillan (DORA) gave a talk on 'Royal Arch Freemasonry'.
~ Bro. Godwin proposed a candidate (Mr John Andrew Hutchison) for initiation into Freemasonry and the JW seconded his proposition, a ballet will be taken in March.
~ A Burns Night supper followed the Lodge meeting, Ladies, Widows and non-Masons were invited, the Social was very well attended. [ View photos of the evening ]
The minutes recorded 13 apologies from members, however, 18 member and 2 visitors were present.

 

Burns Night

 

March 2013: The WM gave a warm welcome to the visitors and especially to the District Chairman W Bro David Lightbown.
~ The JW read a Lecture 'The spirit of masonry in moral and elucidatory lectures' by W Hutchinson1775; the WM thanked the JW for the interesting and thought provoking lecture and the Brethren showed their appreciation in the usual manner.
~ The WM announced the ballot for Mr John Andrew Hutchison to be initiated into Freemasonry and the Secretary read out the Master's certificate. The ballot proved unanimously in favour.
~ The Treasurer presented his accounts, explained that there was an 8 pence adjustment from last year; the CS presented his accounts, both sets of accounts being very well presented. W Bro Heskett gave the accounts examiners' report and advised that W Bro Harwood had worked with the Treasurer and CS to computerise the accounts. The change will enable an ease of compilation and auditing with a uniform method for all Lodge accounts. W Bro Harris SD proposed and W Bro Bright JD seconded that the accounts as presented be accepted; approved by the brethren.
~ W Bro Bright proposed that the Lodge donate £50 to Mr Hardwick a young beneficiary of ELMC, seconded by W Bro Heskett and approved by the brethren.
~ W Bro Rosney advised on Mill House regarding the need for an increase in fees and the actions the building committee are taking to improve the use of the building.
The minutes recorded 17 apologies from members, however, 17 members and 3 visitors were present.

 

April 2013: The main business of the evening was to Pass Bro. Raymond Peter Godwin to the Degree of a Fellow Craft. Bro. Godwin answered the test questions of an EA in a most exemplary manner. The WM then worked the ceremony and Passed Bro. Godwin to the Degree of a Fellow Craft. W.Bro Michael Rosney PProvAGDC delivered the SE Corner address and the working tools of the Degree (long version) were explained by Bro. Steven Charnley in a most excellent manner. The Charge after Passing was given by the Senior Warden, W.Bro. Chris Coster.
~ The Almoner, Charity Steward, 2015 Festival Rep. and the District Rep. all gave their respective reports.
The minutes recorded 13 apologies from members, however, 22 members and 7 visitors were present.

 

Ray Godwin

 

May 2013:This meeting was the 'Family of Lodges' meeting, when the Worshipful Masters of offspring Lodges of the Lodge of Amity are invited to attend. The main business of the evening was to Initiate Mr. John Andrew Hutchison into Freemasonry. The WM invited W.Bro. Russell Harwood IPM to occupy the Chair. W.Bro. Harwood then worked the ceremony in a most exemplary manner. W.Bro Michael Rosney PProvAGDC delivered the NE Corner address and the working tools of the Degree were explained by Bro. Raymond Peter Godwin (FC). The Charge after Initiation was given by the Junior Warden. All the Brethren taking part in the ceremony accomplished their work in a most admirable manner.
~ The Almoner, Charity Steward, 2015 Festival Rep. and the District Rep. all gave their respective reports.
The minutes recorded 12 apologies from members, 4 apologies from the Family of Lodges, however, 24 members and 10 visitors were present.

June - July - August 2013:
The Lodge is in Summer recess during these months

 

September 2013: The Lodge ratified various items which had been approved at the last Lodge committee meeting relating to matters of Lodge and Festive Board procedure etc.
W. Bro. Stuart Rayton PProvGSuptWks gave an excellent explanation of the 1st Degree TB to Bro Raymond Godwin (FC).
~ The Almoner, Charity Steward and the District Rep. all gave their respective reports.
The minutes recorded 17 apologies due to Holidays, illness and work commitments, however, 18 Lodge Members were present plus 2 Visitors.

 

October 2013: The main business of the evening was to Pass Bro. John Andrew Hutchison to the degree of a Fellow Craft. The WM invited W.Bro. Andrew Shaw PProvAGDC to occupy the Chair. W.Bro. Shaw then worked the ceremony in a most exemplary manner. W.Bro Russell Harwood IPM delivered the SE Corner address and the working tools of the Degree were explained by Bro. Raymond Peter Godwin (FC). The Charge after Passing was given by the Acting Senior Warden, W.Bro. Stuart Rayton PProvGSuptWks. All the Brethren taking part in the ceremony accomplished their work in a most admirable manner. At the conclusion of the ceremony the WM presented Bro. Hutchison with his certificate of 'Passing'.
~ The Almoner, Charity Steward and the District Rep. all gave their respective reports.
The minutes recorded 13 apologies from members, however, 21 members and 2 visitors were present.

After the meeting there was a joint Festive Board with the Companions of Sincerity Chapter No.3130

November 2013: The Lodge ratified various items which had been approved at the last Lodge committee meeting relating to meeting clashes at Mill House etc.
The main business of the evening was to raise Bro. Raymond Godwin to the degree of a Master Mason. The ceremony was worked by W.Bro. Russell Harwood IPM and other officers of the Lodge in an exemplary manner. It was agreed that the Traditional History and TB should be deferred until December due to the lateness of the hour.
~ The Almoner being away on other Masonic business, W.Bro Bright gave a report in his stead. The Charity Steward gave his report.
The minutes recorded 17 apologies, due to illness and work commitments, however, 18 Lodge Members were present plus 2 Visitors, including 1 Grand Lodge Officer; W.Bro. Brian J Carter PAGDC, Provincial Grand Almoner.

 

Raymond Godwin

 

December 2013: The main business of the evening was to present the Traditional History and Third Degree Tracing Board to Bro. Raymond Godwin. This was worked by W.Bro. Steven Barton PProvSGW in a most excellent manner. For the benefit of Bro. Godwin the test questions of a Master Mason were demonstrated by Bro. Barry Thompson WM, W.Bro. Stuart Rayton PProvGSuptWks (Acting SW) and W.Bro. Dennis Heskett PProvSGD (Acting JW).
After the ceremony Bro. Godwin was presented with the Certificate of 'Raising' to commemorate his being Raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason.

The minutes recorded 20 apologies from members, however, 15 members and 5 visitors were present, including 1 Grand Lodge Officer; W.Bro. Brian J Carter PAGDC, Provincial Grand Almoner.
